wavy monitor lines

I have a 2005 19" MAG monitor that occasionally produces waves or ripples on the screen. It's not triggered by any particular program or activity as far as I know. It just unexpectedly happens now and again, lasting for about 5-6 seconds.

Does anyone know what causes these ripples to flash across the computer monitor, or how it can be fixed?

Thanks in advance.

For me, when my monitor produced ripples then I found out there was a fan right next to my tower. I moved the fan (which wasn't even on) and the ripples were gone. Most likely this isn't your situation, but its worth it to check for any plug-in things around your tower or monitor.

cell phones can affect monitors as well, except usually there is sound associated with that because they interfere with most speakers as well. but its definetely another though, especially if youre like me and your cell phone is never more than an arms length away.
