I have an older Gateway laptop (circa 2006) and it is a dead duck as far as the OS goes. I have a boot disk which I used without issue a few years ago. The problem is it will not recognize the disk and give me a "press any key to load disk" option. Now that being said, I can load another disk I have on startup (its just a repair disk which is not helping me out) and I have checked the boot disk on another computer to make sure that everything is okay. So my question is why is this not being loaded upon startup? And I have tweeked everything in BIOS so that it should boot from disk. I saw in another thread someone said something about changing the cdrom to master, but I have no idea how to do that on a laptop. Any help is appreciated.
