anyone know which size WD drives have the densest platters for the best read times? (excluding the raptors). my 250's are kind of old, and i'm looking for better performance without buying a raptor.

that really doesnt play into it as much as the series that the drive is in. i suggest getting what i have, as will most other people. its a Western Digital Black drive, they come in 500,640,750, and 1000gb versions if im correct. they offer substantial increases in speed over other hard drives. especially in RAID 0, where they perform flawlessly. i experience speeds approaching 150MBps.
