so i just got this in the mail and before i start doing anything, i had a couple questions about it.

Should i use the FAT32 format it comes in or reformat to NFTS? I honestly don't know much about either

Can i run programs such as microsoft word off it to make more room on the internal?

i think thats it unless there is anything else prudent for a noob to know about these. thanks so much

Usually FAT32 will suffice. But you can do NTFS afaik. Haven't messed around with them.
And yes, you can install programs on and run programs off the external drive.

Hello,

I suggest going with NTFS, FAT32, for example, can only handle files up to 4GB in size.
So you won't be able to copy a file larger then 4gb at a time. So say you have piratesofthecarabean.dvdr.iso at 4.34GB, it won't copy.
