Wearable computing?

Am I the only one that isn't excited about wearable computing (like the Apple watch)? To me, it's just as easy to look at my phone as to look at my wrist (not to mention that I need to put my reading glasses on to see either) so I don't think I need an additional gadget and an additional layer of technology.

Who has one of the new watches and why do you feel it's useful?

I don't understand it either. Screen is too small to use it for much and if I'm going to use the device for more than a couple seconds I'd rather use the larger and more powerful phone in my pocket. I could see maybe having like a ticker feed of news and messages on it but even then that seems like a gimmick.

Darren's got some of it.. What I look at when I see a smart watch is a LED screen that's customizable and personalized. Maybe if you're always traveling and have to have your hands free 99% of the time do you need one.

Most people I know want the Apple watch for fashion.

They probably won't use it a couple months after purchase. That's where companies make money off the watch that costs as much (or more) as the phone you purchased.

Edit: you still have to pull your phone out to type a message or talk to somebody.... so yeah.

My phone is primarily used for reddit and texting as well as checking CoFo from time to time. All of which would be useless on a screen any smaller than 3 inches.
