Web Hosting + Domain

I'm not new to designing web sites , but I have never purchased a domain or have any expierence with web hosting companies.. If I were to make a page for someone that has a small little consignment shop, What would be a good web domain? I just want sql and php to be available to me...

what are your minimum requirements? Bandwidth, server specs, software versions (php, mysql, perl, python, and so forth), are some of the requirements you need to look into. Also, look at back up solutions, services offered by webhost like email, databases, disk quota on HD space used, etc.

As for domains go, I always buy mine through godaddy.com and mainly because they always have tons and tons of coupons. In fact, never buy a domain from godaddy until you google search for coupons. Sometimes you can get lucky and find like 30% off coupons on your purchase. Plus, godaddy doesn't care who hosts your site. Some domain companies will force you to use them as a host, be weary of that.
