Web Server ordering tomorrow, hows it look?

I hope he has a back up method, plenty of bandwidth, a decent provider and an ISP that is reliable. Otherwise that is a waste of money.

total overkill imo, there no way he needs that much power. If he really is needing to use that much cpu power, he's better of porting it to a seperate application server than running it on the web server.
Could build this for 1/10th of the price and wouldnt notice the difference on the front end

Well, to be fair apj101, if they were running a heavy MS based server OS, hosting lets say a bunch of active x web apps, allowing multiple user file sharing, running it in graphical mode, and using a SQL database I can see it eating up all those resources.

Or maybe they wanted to be ready for the vista upgrade since it has ridiculous hardware requirements

This is a total waste of money, IMO... I mean what's with the sound card and an SLI motherboard? If you're willing to spend this much on a server, get a real server, with workstation parts. Stuff that's made more for stability over performance.

what do you mean workstation parts? and its gonna be under heavy fire testing software and heavy stuff. and how in any way is it not stable?
