Webpage won't show up

Hi, I've recently moved house. I'm using a laptop on vista and when i connect to the internet it works totally fine programs like uTorrent and Full tilt poker work perfectly but when i go to load a webpage it doesn't show up.

I'm using the newest version of Mozilla and I really don't know why it won't load webpages when Full tilt poker works fine through the internet. I'm using McAfee firewall but i don't think this is why it's not working.

Does anyone have any ideas? If so a reply would be gratefully recieved. :)

I've had this happen to be before, for me; it ended up being a hardware issue with a local DNS server, which caused continuous 'Server Not Found' errors.

DNS servers are what translate URL's (e.g; www.computerforum.com) into IP addresses (e.g; 69.16.225.146 or 69.16.225.146/~compforumcom ). Since most internet enabled PC games use IP addresses to communicate, rather than URL's, that could explain why you're not able to access webpages, but you are able to access other opponents online through the games.

If the issue hasn't worked itself out yet, you could call your ISP and ask if there are any reported issues in your area.. if there aren't, submit a ticket, but chances are that's not the issue.

Hope this helped you out.

1 - we can't talk about torrents here
2 - Firefox or Mozilla??

1) I don't see this in the rules anwhere, can you point it out to me?

2) Downloading Torrents is not illegal so long as you are not infringing copyright, or downloading illegal content and/or pornography. There are many valid and legal things to be found through torrents that don't break the law, thus the reason that programs like BitTorrent and uTorrent can legally exist.

1. - when he says utorrent.

2. - yes, and also against forum rules.

Okay I won't mention any torrent programs again.

I will try and follow your advice concerning the internet. I'll give the ISP a call and try and sort it out from there.

Thanks. :)
