Website question on directory security

I've got a site with host provided secure directories. I would like to generate an automatic regestration utility, but don't have time. Rather than create and keep track of individual memebers and regestrations I had thought of using a single password and user name and changing the password once a month and e-mailing the new password.

Any thoughts about whether there are better ways or suggestions?
