Weird 6990 performance..

I just put in a new his 6990. I linked it with a his ice q x radeon 6950 2gb. Both cards were in when I installed the drivers. ( all drivers were removed and deleted with driver sweeper before hand.) During ccc install, the pc BSOD, rebooted, and installed the windows driver automatically, then installed ccc successfully. When using ccc Xfire is enabled, and shows 6970 + 6970 linked adapter hardware specs under ccc. Then shows third linked adapter with 6950 specs. Is this correct? Also under gpu z, it shows the appropriate shaders, and under cross fire it shows disabled when all 3 gpus are linked under ccc. But when i disable xfire, it shows crossfire enabled with 2 gpus lol... Im assuming it's time for a driver reinstall. Im thinking i should reinstall ccc with just the 6990, then add the 6950 after. Helpppppp lol. Performance still sucks on witcher 2. This pc should plow through any game at 1080p at even the most ridiculous settings. One last thing, I used 2 individual 8 pin connector cables, as the owners manual advised it is bad to use one cable with 2 8 pin connectors. Im assuming i have it connected properly.

well the 6990 is 2 6970 cores in one card, then all the vram and other things, that's why the 580 is the world's fastest single core card, the 590 and 6990 have 2 cores. and for whitcher 2, some games just can't use more than one gpu, they get screwy and loose performance, try playing it on just the 6950 and see how that goes.

A 6990 is, like what johnny said is 2 6970s crossfired on one card. So AFAIK the 6990 will show up as a set of crossfired 6970s.

Test the system with just the 6990 installed. Run some benchmarks to see what the performance is. Then add the 6950 and run the benchmarks again. That will tell you whether or not you have the trifire configured correctly.

oh yeah, if you try to put a 6970 with a 6950 it will try to rin them both at the lower of the 2's settings, so it is prob trying to run your 6990 like 2 6950's, which is prob why it's bugging out.
