Alright, first off... Sorry if this is in the wrong thread. I obviously don't know WHERE the problem is coming from so I wasn't able to categorize it (but if I had to guess I would say it's my motherboard.).
So... I bought a new mobo (Gigabyte X58A-UD5), new processor (Intel i7-950), 6 Gigs of RAM (Corsair XMS3-triple channel), and a heatsink (Noctua NH-U12P). I put it all together and now when my computer is running it makes a slight... well it's like a hybrid sound of buzzing, humming and screeching? It's not very loud, but if I'm not doing anything I can hear it and it gets quite irritating. What I think is even weirder is that when I'm on Skype everybody I talk to hears a loud sound as well (they say it sounds like a tea kettle, which is probably similar to the sound I'm hearing), but from the sounds of it it's a lot louder for them... I can confirm that it isn't just Skype, when I turned on the option to hear through my microphone I heard the sound as well.
At first I thought it could be my sound card (seeing as how it's sound related...), so I unplugged my soundcard and just installed my mobo driver. But the sound persists.
I'm not going to be able to start doing any tests until at the very earliest later on tonight, but tomorrow I will get underway on fixing this. I'll be unplugging all my usb stuffs and boot with just the basics in my computer, and see if maybe it's just an extra device or something (doubt it though, this problem didn't happen with my old parts).
And for the record, I've got a 500 watt OCZ PS, a Radeon HD 5700 Graphics card, 3 hard drives and a bunch of usb devices (KB+M, tablet, 360 controller, headphones...).
Thanks in advance... Hopefully this is some kind of simple problem that I can fix when I come home tonight!
EDIT: Oh, and I've just noticed recently that when I sometimes do something like move my mouse, the sound changes slightly. That's why I'm thinking maybe my mobo has a problem. Maybe the USB ports are doing something funky?
