Weird Cd/Dvd problems

Yeah, I never really complained about that much but now its just getting annoying see. I have to have a cd in the drive when i boot up, so i can use my drive once im on windows but if i don't have a cd in it windows takes a long ass time to boot up cuz its trying to recognize the drive. Anyone know why this is happening iv tried a other cd drive but same problem.

your cd drive is more than likely listed before your hard drive in the boot priority and it's searching the disk for boot commands
