Weird Computer bug

Hi, guys i didn't know where to post this so i posted it here.

Every time when im gaming, for some reason after like an hour my computer just like runs x2 sluggish, so i check my task manager and my game is taking like 40% process....... for no reason then it spikes up and down, so i go back and theres barely any units on the screen.... so than i restart because its unplayable than its back to normal then after awhile it happens again so i have to keep restarting... any ideas? I've never had to do this with any other past computers... I've tried nearly everything and im pretty sure my pentium 4 i got can support my warcraft 3 frozen throne anyone?

EDIT: when this happens i've noticed the "System" uses 11-20 process constantly until i restart which is un normal and i think this is what causes it but what makes that use so much?

Sounds like something is getting hot.

When was the last time you blew out the inside of your computer?
Dust and such will clog heat sinks, and literally stop fans from running.

Heat, is quite possibly, your worst enemy when it comes to pc hardware.
 
Heat could definetly be your problem here. Get something like PCWIZARD to check your temps. If they are high (35-40C idle), then make sure that your computer has a good airflow. If problems continue, re-apply thermal paste.
 
yup, like the above posts said, it sound like you're having a heating problem. could be your CPU or GPU.
