Weird cursor moving problem

On two of my hp laptops every once in a while the mouse cursor starts drifting to the left or right of the screen, and it stops after a few seconds. I noticed that it happens especially often when I use the trackball thing on the keyboard for a while. Anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Uhhh! I am having the same problem with my touchpad of my netbook. I have tried wiping it ten thousand times but that never helps. I have conceded and started using a mouse!

Yep, I don't know what causes it but for some reason it happens to some laptops, not to all of them though...

I am guessing you are talking about the trackpoint device. If so, remove the little rubber cap, and spray around the attach point with compressed air. Always fixed my thinkpads and D630 when they had these issues.
