weird files

I've been going through my computer and I noticed these weird folders/files

and I also see similar files WinDirStat and that take up quite a bit of space

I was just wondering if anybody knew what these are, if they're system files or something.

The folders with the random names are left over from Windows Update. You can safely delete them. If you can't delete them, you need to go into Safe Mode to delete them.

The System Volume Information is the system restore files. If you want to clear them (or reduce the amount of space they take up) go into System Properties, and go to the Advanced System Settings. Then go into the System Protection tab and choose "Configure". To delete all system restore points, turn system restore off then back on. To just reduce the amount of space it uses, drag the slider.

awesome thank you, they've been there for a while and its always bothered me.

Also forgive my ignorance but how do I get to System Properties?

Right click on computer, click on properties, click on system protection tab, click on configure at the bottom.
