Weird problem with media player on kindle fire 7.

When I activate wifi it automatically updates the media player
and when it does this the new version of the media player randomly wont play about one fourth of the mp4 videos on my sd card.

A buffering circle rotates and rotates and the certain seemingly random videos never play.

When I do a factory reset it restores the original media player and all the videos work just fine.( I take the sd card out durring the factory reset so the files dont accidently get erased).

Then if I activate wifi the the media player automatically updates again and the same random videos wont work again.

(If I remember correctly I think the random videos still worked with the vlc android app but that app got erased during the first factory reset.
I like the media player that comes with the fire 7 more because it displays the videos in cool looking thumbnail squares. Were as the vlc just gives you folders to select the videos and the controlls arnt as good.)

I mostly use my laptop for going online and I use the tablet as a portible offline media player for the stuff on the sd card but I do still need to go online with the tablet some times and its annoying to have to do factory resets all the time just to watch all my mp4 videos.

what's up with this?
I wonder why certain seemingly random videos wont play on the updated media player?
Is there any simple ways to turn off automatic updates for the media player?

go into to the appstore press the menu button on the top left hand corner scroll down to setting, you can enable or disable automatic updates from there.
hope that helps

Cool, I will try this.

However.
The media player Im talking about is the one that comes with the tablit ,so I dont know if it counts as an app or if you can control its settings from the app store.
but worth a try.

the media player is just an pre installed app you cant unninstall it you can still control the way the app updates
