Weird problem

Dont know if this is the right section but i really need help. I have had computer troubles for almost a month now and i really just wanna finish my PC. I just got my new motherboard which i had to replcace the old one with. I plugged everything in and hurray it works. I get to my bios screen and everything works. Then after around a minute it just shuts off. I try it again and the same thing happens. My stats are in my info except for now i have a gigabyte motherboard. So what do you think could be wrong?

Check your mother board manual and make sure that everythign else you have is compatible. You say that you got a new GigaByte mother board, what type and what chipset?? There are lots of GigaBytes Mobos out there.

Its an nforce 3 socket 754 motherboard and it is compatible with everything i have I'm sure. I have no idea why it would work flawlessy for around a minute and then just shutoff...

It might have a defect or so, or maybe got a power surge that defected a component. Just an assumption, I don't have any other explanation other than that.

Could it be a heating problem? The CPU is running at 80-85 degrees celsius. Im going to go grab some fans and see if that helps. Man im so upset i have spent almost 2 months now waiting for parts and spending more money. I had a computer store look at it, got a new mobo, got a new psu and i hope i dont have to replace anything else.

Try the fans and the cooling stuff, and hope that it will work fine ;) Take it easy, you waited 2 months, won't be bad to wait another 2 days :)

fairly sure thats the problem, you could have a temp shut off with the mobo so ifit gets too hot itll shut off to protect itself. with those temps. i think the hsf may not be on properly, cuz mine runs at 40°c under full load, and i only have 4 case fans. so check the hsf and make sure you have thermal paste on it

Whats the model?

- What's the cooling solution?
- Does it work for a minute regardless of whether you goto bios or just sit there or even press Pause?

- PHUCK
- Your temp should be <40C from cold boot
- Do you have thermal paste? Too much? If you put new paste on... did you get rid of the old stuff?
- Most motherboards (AMD) are set to kill themselves at 85C
