Weird Suggestion

Okay, I know this may sound weird but today in our speech class we were assigned this persuasive speech. I chose for a topic why people should, at the moment, choose Intel over AMD when comparing processors (Sorry AMD fanboys, but its my topic, and my rules :P ). It might be tough to decide because certain models are more powerful than others, but in a general concensus why is Intel better than AMD in the market now. If it helps these students are mostly seniors in high school. 90% of which are going to be in college the following year, I'm trying to gear it towards them. Thanks for any help you guys can give :)
 
well they're probably not that smart. AMD is all 90nm right now and intel is mostly 65nm. tell them it's smaller and lighter? :P

but ehhh generally speaking intel cpu use less power which is good for your power bill. Generates less heat so you're not working with a portable heating system in the summer which is nice.

i'm not a really big fanboy of either... i don't do being fanboy :P i just look at what i need and then buy a cpu. I have to admit that right now i like intel cpu's more because they generate less heat. Which means my fans won't have to work that hard which means less noise. And i'm a big fan of noise-less builds :P
 
Right now yea intel is better but price and performance AMD is cheaper, just so you know. but if you want an arguement y intel is better then, go with the new core 2 duos are way more overclockable than amd's athlons thats my 2 cents
 
yea but i don't think that anyone in your class knows what overclocking is... and they sure as hell don't want to overclock cpu's them self.
 
As apj said, Intel's price drops will make Intel both better performing and cheaper. It is pretty simple, really.
 
true but the cheapest cpu's are still amd's even after the big price drop...
some consumers just need a simple word & email computer they don't give a crap about how much faster the 10 dollar more intel cpu is. They just want cheap.
 
I don't really care if the students understand. I did a speech earlier in the year on World of Warcraft and why it was such a good game. My friends care and know what I'm talking about and so does the teacher, to a degree. Thats who I really care about, just wanted to make it semi-entertaining for the rest.

So far for my "why is Intel better" section I have heat, price and more power friendly. I will do more research on these specifics on Thursday so I can beef it up to 3-5 mins :) Thanks everyone! and keep the suggestions coming :)
 
just go some deeper in the technical references. find a press talk from intel or something more than enough crap in those to talk about :P
 
Talk about the instruction types(SSE4, etc.) and how Intel has some technology to help with that. What about how it is more power efficient, therefore saving power on laptops.

Heat, Price, Power, Performance, Overclocking?

And 3-5 minutes isn't long...
