Well, you can load IE on Linux and it runs native like a Windows app with in it's own bottle, so you are running The Windows version.

I used to exclusively use Linux at my last job on my desktop in my office and I had to work with a few IE only sites for my job that were heavy into active X. I used that solution above and got it to work and it worked great.

So, it probably will run on Linux, but you gotta do some leg work to make it run.

By leg work I mean run one installer script and possibly maybe some debugging if the installer script doesn't work out of the box.

Like I said, I used it for two years straight at a previous job because I didn't want to use Windows on my PC. It works great but if you don't know Linux troubleshooting it could be hard.

Linux is something that just takes time to learn how to use, and it isn't hard but it is just way different than Windows. I think you need to give Linux at least 6 months of solid day to day use to give it a good go. When I used it at work every day for two years it jumped my Linux skills a ton forward.
 
If you can't double-click an application to get it to work, most people lose interest.

That's why Linux hasn't taken over the world. :D

It just took over the whole London Stock Exchange. They are ditching all their windows servers and clients. You can also get double click installs as well. If you double click a .deb file it will open the package manager and try to install it. You may have to give your password for it to install, but that is a good thing.
