I never said it required IE. You can install Silverlight on Firefox too.
EDIT: What I meant to say was Moonlight. The latest version (Beta)
for Linux doesn't include support for DRM, and specifically the ability
to play Netflix movies.
Well, you can load IE on Linux and it runs native like a Windows app with in it's own bottle, so you are running The Windows version.

I used to exclusively use Linux at my last job on my desktop in my office and I had to work with a few IE only sites for my job that were heavy into active X. I used that solution above and got it to work and it worked great.
So, it probably will run on Linux, but you gotta do some leg work to make it run.
