Does windows xp upgrades help out with serial ATA performance?

I have a long detailed thing but we'll start out slow and progress...

doesnt have anything to do with it. it has to do with either your pci or your onboard sata depending on your MOBO.

i've heard so....the problem is that when i play doom 3, things are very jerky...it's obviously not a video card problem, it has to be the hard drive....it's serial ATA, it ran much smoother on an IDE.

HDD performance doesnt make that drastic of a change in perf

SATA is a part of the IDE spec.
