WEP problem

i have a wireless network set up at home with password using wep. i know the password. but when i type it in, it says `the netweork password needs to be 40bits or 104buts depending on your network configuration. this can be entered as 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters` password is 10241024 but it says this error everytime. whats wrong?

thats 8 characters....says you need 5, 13, 10 or 26
your password was most likely encrypted into a hex key when you entered it in, look for a hex key in your password management within your router
