western union scam

Sup everyone. I just thought i would post this up, im not sure if this is common knowlegdge or not, but it wont hurt. One of my friends thinks he got scammed for some high end computer parts. The seller told him to use western union for the payment. Western Union is usually used for money wiring, ex: you need to send money to your mom in a diffrent state, and dont wanna risk it being lost in the US mail service.. so you go to your local western union location, pay them, then your mom comes w/ proper id and recieves the money. They are not used for business, and will not check or ask the person recieving the money anything so as long as they have matching ID (fake or other wise), they will get your money. Ive also read a similar scam with motorcycle companies. I believe most of the sellers will claim
amazing prices like 50% off and often say they used USPS and the package got lost, which is convienent b/c theres no way to track it w/ USPS. Also they will often use pictures they have found from the internet as thier proof that they have the goods. So to summerize, i (and even western union) reccomend that you dont use western union for any business transactions. Though they have a fraud department, it seems to be a lenghy process, and hard to track who ever got your money. Be careful and happy shopping, especially during this time of year.

sorry, i didnt know USPS had tracking, i shouldnt have said it didnt. Also didnt know it was old, just trying to inform :)

There are also alot of scams that have to do with people on eBay from other countries getting you to wire them money.
