Whaich card should i get

Hello, I am planning buying a graphics card, mostly for gaming, ATI or nVidia is better? I saw ATI Radeon 9250 and 9600 pro and XT800, their price are very different, can you tell me what things in those cards that makes the card better and more expensive?
 
The 9250 is the previous generations budget card, the 9600 is the last generations midrange and the X800XT is the current generations high end. In terms of performance each step up you will notice a big difference. The 9600 is good if you don't want to pay for the X800

For gamming you definally dont want a radeon 9250. The 9600 PRO is a decent card if your budget is $100. At $150 the radeon 9600XT proberly the best choise. At $200 the geforce 6600GT the best choise. at $250 I would proberly still stay with the geforce 6600GT. At $300 a radeon x800 or geforce 6800. At $350 If you have pci-e then radeon x800 XL otherwise there a strip down version of the geforce 6800 GT made by asus that I would go with. at $400 the geforce 6800 GT. at $450 geforce 6800 ultra. and finally at $500 and more there the geforce 6800 ultra, radeon x800XT and radeon x850XT.

Those are the choices I would go with for all the budget ranges. I would not spend under $100 on a card ment for playing the new games.

For game playing I suggest u better buy 6600GT. nVidia display card better than ATI display card in game preformance

Care to explain why rather then just making a broad statement like nvidia is better then radeon.

saying the geforce 6600GT is better then a radeon 9600pro is like saying x800XT is better then a geforce 6600GT. Both is true but that dont make one company better then the other.

The Forceware in game preformance have a better supporting than the Catalyst. The benchmark prove that GeForce 6 have a better game preformance than Radeon.

a benchmark comparing what two cards? Find me a geforce for $100 that performs better then the radeon 9600pro that cost $100.
 
The geforce 6600GT agp have come down in price. You can now get one for under $200($194).

Oooh oooh fanboy alert!
1. I would have expected to hear driver stability rather than some driver feature
2. "better supporting than the Catalyst"???
3. Radeon is approaching a decade in age
4. GeForce6 does better in OpenGL environments. Doesnt mean it does better in DirectX environments

GeForce FX can't compare to 9600Pro but 6600 or 6600GT in game preformance both are better than 9600Pro

Yeah of corse a 6600GT going to be better it also cost double. It not fair to compare last generation cards with this generation cards.

I could say a x800xt is better then a 6600GT but that dont mean anything.
It only fair when you comparing two cards that cost the same amount of money.

buy display card now I think I will use at least 1-2 years ..... then I will suggest to buy the next generation display card for the future demand.

If you look at what I recommended I did recommend the geforce 6600GT if he could afford it. The point is most people on a budget. If he need a card now and only have $100 the radeon 9600pro the best choice.

It was not the fact you reccomend the 6600GT(I agree the 6600GT is a great card) that got me on your case. It was the fanboy comment that Nvidia is a better company then radeon.

Yes but that doesnt change the fact that there are simialrly spec'd cards costing twice as much as each other etc and doesnt clearly define the conditions for "lasting".
