I'm looking for a 2nd HDD.

- Really good brand?
- Silent?
- Doesn't fail and won't die?
- 1TB
- SATA, SATA 2
- 7200RPM

Please suggest some that are good?

Either Seagate or Western digital. I've had more issues with Western Digitial but their rma process is easier than Seagates, but only in the way you have to package the drive if you return it.

I've been using western digitals for a long time, never had a drive fail. I might have been just lucky so far though.

Yeah, every brand has drives that fail. It just happens, if you find one that has the right size and price then go for it. Most drives will last a long time but you still get people saying WD last the longest and seagates are crap or vise versa or <insert brand a here> sucks, <insert brand b here> is the best.

We've been having more Western Digital drives failing at work than anything. Any brand has lemon's (both drives and models/series). Personally though, I still stick with Western Digital and Seagate. Just do your research. Find models in your price range and see if people have many problems with them. Typically it's pretty obvious if a drive has problems.

Example... Search on newegg for 7200.11. Then search for 7200.12. Check the differences in the ratings.
