I am looking to repurchase my antivirus software for the year and im wondering if any one has a recommendation. I currently use F-Prot for my 3 desktops, 1 laptop, and 1 server (all running XP or server 2003) I am hoping to buy the AV software in a bundle for all my computers.

i wouldnt suggest norton. it didnt prevent my computer from anything... now im in these forums trying to get my computer out of hell...

Norton is good if you have a fairly decent PC, it protects all but the testbed in this house from any viruses. Avast! is also quite good if your PC is lower-end, although it once did manage to corrupt a major XP file.

Yea, norton is good if it doesn't slow your system down. I use it and have no problems, but my parents computer is getting murdered by it.

IF I WAS U I WOULD BUY MCAFEE INTERNET SECURITY 2007. BECCAUSE THERE IS A NETWORK BIT IN IT TOO. THIS IS WHAT I USE FOR 3 DESKTOPS AND 1 LAPTOP. U CAN USE THE SAME SERIAL NUMBER TOO.

Get PC tool pro 7. It has all the utility's you can think of, 3 computer licences and there Anti-Virus is updated daily. Yes, daily. Has Anti-Spyware, registry tools, and all the other stuff (about 15 more cools things) that it can do for 1 very low price.

lol! Daily, that's considered poor now. Kaspersky updates 15-20 times per day!.

While most av's offer good protection, their method(Re-active) still leaves the user vulnerable is you encounter malware that are not in the database yet as even the best 'Heuristics' (Antivir, NOD32) still miss almost 50% of the time.
My suggestion would be to add a virtualization program to your arsenal to help combat these threats. Here are a few freebies.

Bufferzone - http://www.trustware.com/
Sandboxie - http://www.sandboxie.com/
GesWall - http://www.gentlesecurity.com/download.html

I've been running Bufferzone for awhile now and have purposely installed malware in it. Cleaned the Bufferzone and it was gone!.

I'm using AOL AVS which is a free slimed down version of Kaspersky 6.0. Same engine/signatures and updating. All you do is decline the AOL security toolbar during install and you got free KAV 6.0. Absolutely not one spam, nothing. My computer has been on for 6 hours now and have received 8 updates already today.

I used to think that the free virus protection form SBC Yahoo DSL was the best cuz I thouht who knows more about viruses than the people who supply the Internet. There was also this big conspiracy about the Anti-Virus makers make the viruses just so we have to get the protection due to not having a choice....wonder if that's true.
