What are the benifits of getting an AM3 board over an AM2+ board?

Im stumped on which one to get. An AM2+ board is like 10 or 20 stones cheaper.
But is there any lasting benefit to get an am3 board right now?
 
DDR2 vs. DDR3 memory. If I was building a system from scratch I would go AM3/DDR3. If you already have DDR2 memory there is nothing wrong going with AM2+ boards. But AM2+ boards and DDR2 memory for AMD from this point on will be a dying beast.
 
Do you have an AM3 CPU? If you only have an AM2+ cpu now, as long as it's a decent one, I'd stick with AM2. If you already have an athlon/phenom II, than go full AM3.

The board and RAM in my sig I just got a week ago in a combo deal for $155, sweet deal and very fast.
 
The AM2/DDR2's will be hard to get rid of. They are dirt cheap compared to some of the DDR3/AM3's, but they should get down in price soon enough for poor people like me.
