What are the possibilities of this ??

I play World of Warcraft.
My machine is more than enough to play this game smoothly at high settings but however, my FPS would drop from like..... 75 to 30ish all of a sudden.
What are the possibilities of this phenomenon?

Thanks for any help!

You should upgrade drivers to the latest, as those older drivers may very well be the problem.

I did try the latest driver and installed it correctly but the problem still occurred.:(

It's really weird because when i reboot my computer i might be able to play WoW at high frame rates for a while then it just goes down all of a sudden.
Please let me know what kind of information you need and I'll post it here.

leaving computers on has shown no tendency other then to wear out fans, so we can easily rule that out. other then that, try to figure out if the computer is being stressed during this time, like a large action or a thread running in the background of your computer.

No there is no other program running while i'm gaming, i even close my browser and MSN messenger, etc.

The problem is not fixed until i restart my comp where i can get normal frame rates for a while then it goes back down again. : /

i know after playing games like WoW for a while, your computer memory cache or whatever gets very full therefore it uses a lot of RAM and causes lag. could it be the same with video?

but the only problem with that is i never relised a difference when i was playing on my laptop(sig) after a few hours...

I don't think that's the cause for my problem.
I didn't have such a problem before, I was able to play for long hours without restarting my comp and still get really good FPS.

It's just now where my FPS would suddenly drop like a rock. :(

I believe that's called a memory leak and, unless he has a rare case of it, WoW hasn't been known to have that problem. (Most recent case of a game having it was The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion: Shivering[name?] Isles expansion.)

Ingame I have pretty muche everything maxed except for terrain distance.
Control panel settings?
Sorry I'm a noob. :P

I talking in terms of your refresh rate and if you have vsync on; those kind of settings. And control panel refers to graphic settings specified by either Catalyst Control Center or nVidia Control Panel, respectively.

yeah, sorry, i went a bit off topic, but i just wanted to prove a point lol...

i guess Motoxrdude might be right, it might be overheating.

Well, other than possibility of a settings conflict, as I was try to imply earlier, or even the case of overheating, this really just screams of a bad driver. You might want to check the release notes of whatever driver you are using off of the manufacturer's website to see if there is a problem with the driver, your card, and the game.

he's upset over 30 fps/ with all my setting almost as low as possible i usually get about 10......i seriously need a new computer

When you pay a few hundred dollars for a video card, wouldn't 30 frames per second on WoW make you upset too?
