what are the risks of oc

yes ive seen most people favour oc on this forum but what are the actuall risks or disavantages oc at a high spec or even at a low spec

Well, I know one thing....It drains the life of your CPU....but not a real lot

theres always this chance if you dont have enough cooling and where ever you place your computer your house might be on fire already when you watch the news at school or something.

Or if you overclock and you dont know exactly how to do it....then you might stuff it

There isnt a world of difference whether you OC or not ... sure its faster but that added speed isnt gonna cut load times or anything in half. To some people it matters, to others, it doesnt matter so much

frying hardware
causing a fire

those are the biggest risks i believe...but with a little knowledge and some caution, theres almost no chance of that happening for most users.
