ok well i have this comp....
kinda sucks but I want to make it a second gameing comp..(budget)
I need keybard n mouse and monitor but plz tell me what I need for the inside...
well ima take a look inside and post what kinda crap is under the hood....

well here is the stuff I have on this newbie comp :).....

4800Ti...
2x 256 ddr-266MhZ Pc2100
Maxtor 60G.B hdd...
idk what kind of socket it is...but i have a quick pick...
maybe some 1 can tell me if its a 939 or not because i would pefer buying 939 amd for this comp...well heres the pic....

Oh BtW this Is what I Got sidetracked doing..I rigged a 120mm fan so it blows air inside the comp..
Its on the out side of the computer case and...well i think I made my comp look very much cooler....heres a few pix..

Lol yes yes i know ghetto rigged ..but im known for doing things that are .."wierd" LoL!!!

notice the twisties that go inside n out of the comp ...*used to hold fan so it doesnot fall*..I have 2 of them on there 1 on top right and one on bottom left ....:D
 
thats a socket 478 and i know that for a FACT I did a little math after conting some of the row's of pin holes in there, and then after i got 478 and looks back at the picture i also noticed the numners....and relized all that was for nothing because it tels you right there LOL.

Did you really think it was a 939 considering what else was in there? lolz...


Also sorry to break it to you....but you wanted to buy a 939 amd...which you now know you cant....but you also cant even buy a AMD at all, thats a intel socket.

yes you can make it into a nice comp, you just need to buy a new motherboard CPU, graphics card, psu, case, hareddrive and ram and your set to go!

it says 478 on the socket lol
it wont take much to make a reasonable computer out of that system. the skt478 p4's are quite good systems. i think there were even some hyperthread cpus on the socket.
you'll definately be able to play some older games with that 4800ti, halo will play well cos i could play it well on a 4200ti
 
P4 with HT, a better gpu, and anything else u might want such as more ram, a dvd burner, a bigger hdd or w/e and you have yourself a decent gaming rig.

but u'd be much better off throwing that money into ur main computer.

Im not looking to build another comp...
because Im using that comp for gameing now lol
its not horrible but its pretty bad...
Maybe You guys could point me in the right dirrection..
Im looking to buy things that wont cost THAT much
but will make this comp good enought to play w0w,Americas Army--
Doom3, Bf2 definatly..and AoE3....

LOl sry about that I looked around for something that said 3 numbers but i just ddnt look on top of the cpu holder lol...i know noob mistake..lol
 
ok Like I said I dont want to spent THAT much money on this but im not sure how much im willing to put on this...because I might sell it to a friend (when I add the extra things on it...)

I said Im willing to buy a new mobo just not something thats like waayyy out there in price..I want something small like say....70 bucks??
than I can buy the rest of the stuff..
but im pretty sure im going to keep that cpu just for the fact that all cpu's are expensive and theres nothing really wrong with this one..

so im willing to buy a 478 cpu mobo with some more ram a video card a bigger hdd and a psu...
how's that sound??
and what would I be looking at..(money wize..)
 
It really just depends what quality you get.
i'd recommend atleast a 6600GT for your gpu, which would be $130-$150, atleast 512mb, which you have. another 80gb hdd if u want. a cd-rw/dvd drive, and an OK psu, newegg has a free 380W psu that is decent that you could look into.
