Just ordered new comp, should be here wednesday. What can I expect?

core i7 920 liquid cooled
asus p6t mb
12gb 1600mhz ram
300gb velociraptor w/cooling fan
2 gtx 295
gts250 phsyx

I have a laptop I use for school, and it will be nice to have a dedicated game machine. I really want to be able to run world in conflict, modern warfare 2, arma 2, fsx, mafia 2(when available) at max settings. Am I close? I hope so.

HOLY crap!!!! you could probably run all the games at the same time with max settings, lol. this is probably one of the best rigs on this entire forum. what power supply did you get?

Ok that makes me feel alot better. The power supply is a corsair 1.1kw, but dont quote me on that I'm not looking at the invoice and I made alot of changes before submiting but I believe that is what I went with. I am still affraid that isn't enough power but everyone I checked with kept adding it up to 1000-1050w so PLEASE let me know ASAP if I need to change it. I chose next day shipping and 2 day delivery so I guess I will hear tomorrow if they need a larger power supply.

My overall experience so far has been great. I was very pleased at pricing and selection of inventory. My only complaint would be that the configurator could be more interactive, ie: when I chose the components it should only list compatible power supplies and such. Thanks in advance, keep the input coming if someone else has something to add or help.

I'm super excited to recieve it. I'm a math major seeking a PhD and I have been so consumed with it, a little fun will be welcome. This site is amazing and the users seem to be very respectful and insightful. Thanks again.

That corsair 1k psu will be enough to power everything from top to bottom.

I would almost call this bs, however i think it is more "look how big mine is", but that mofo will take on NASA! But really, who couldn't gloat about such a ****ing great rig? Anyone?

Btw dude, you are going to be doing some major CUDA action on that!!! LOL SO JEALOUS! ;). Considering you can clearly afford it:

  • One suggestion, get rid of the Raptor, and get an SSD harddrive (at least for the OS) such as this: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Toshiba-256GB-MLC-SSD,6419.html. (btw 4 sec google so do your research). 250GB (50GB less) and exceedingly faster.

  • Then just get 2 x 750GB F1 Samsung Spinpoints' (cheap and fast), in RAID array. Blisteringly quick with the option of data security (striped array) and only a little more cash. I reckon this great rig would be wasted on a standard hard drive, which is the biggest bottleneck in all computers.
Major bottleneck removed!

Based on my experience with SSD on much more mortal rigs, that system (with SSD) would boot from off: to usable desktop - in about 5 seconds. (after initial indexing is completed and defrag).

LOL,
  • with that system, install the OS on an SSD, take and image of the install and save it on the RAID array. Forget antivirus, just automate (with Windows 7) an image replacement every day Malware would become obsolete as it would take about 10 minutes to complete a destructive reimage of your PC. Partitions and RAID and all. Plus you can automate incremental updates to the images daily also. The possiblities are very many. LOL

  • ...and finally, when you are done, can you please use a cracked Call of Duty MW2 dedicated server patch!!!!!!! LOOOOL just jokes...:)

can anyone tell that i am excited by this fabulous rig? ;)

You can expect a kick @ss rig, that's for sure, although the "rant" about the SSD was correct, but you can add drives later.

Where did you buy this and how much was it?

"rant" +1 :D - its called editing compulsion and detail, but yeah, concise is good too

But seriously jgoff14, put your Windows 7 64bit on this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227393 for $145 (after rebate). Massive bottleneck removed. Otherwise all other components will be tapping their feet.... :)

Complete system cost i would guess at $4K - does he live with his parents? ;)

I'm 22(going on 23), I'm married, don't live at home, cyberpowerpc.com is where i got it and it was 2800 with 2day shipping . pardon my ignorance before, I know it will be sweet I was just affraid I was building it up in my mind to be something it was not. I'm very computer literate just never "built" one before.
It seemed to good to be true that for the price it would be like this. I wanted the ssd, they were just excessively over priced there, but for 145 I will buy one and stick it in. I did get win7 64, I haven't seen it or heard much about it and I'm currently using vista. How would you rate it? I really did just want it for games and I've been thinking about it for months and just kept ignoring it. I actually just put a processor in my alienware notebook a week ago for some more performance but didn't quite go where I wanted so in my rarely spontaneous lifestyle I bought it. The worst part now is waiting. I ordered it at 6pm sunday, it is supposed to be here wednesday but I haven't gone to bed yet. I'm too excited and its making it seem so long.:(

Sorry that wasn't meant to be defensive, I was trying to type and control my dog, just kinda ran together. It's all in good fun anyway.

The first computer I bought was from cyberpowerpc.com and had good experience w/ them and their product. That computer you got should hopefully last you a year or so before you have upgrade again :D Gotta love technology!

Ya seriously, its amazing how it changes and increases in performance in such a small time but my bank accout disagrees on that I guess.
