Hi everyone, This is my first time, I am getting ready to buy a new home computer and need some help, I just don't know enough to know which computer is best for me.
I share a computer with my son, our first was a HP I loved it.
I hear so much about Dell, I think i want one but just do not know,
I want a good, fast, dependable computer that is easy for an everyday person to use, I want excel on it I do know that much, I sometimes bring work home. we have cable on our computer.
I would love some feed back on what you do or do not like about a Dell
also on HP vs Dell
can you help ? :o

For what you plan to do, either company has plenty of systems that will work. You obviously don't need a top of the line speed demon to run the lastest games. I'd say go with whoever will sell you one cheaper.

Yeah i agree in a sense....sometimes they (Dell) charge too much for too little though. If you went to a specialty computer store and tell them what you want, they'll most likely give you the same system as Dell but for less, or give you a better system for the price of the Dell (I really hate Dell) They always cheese their customers out on the motherboards with their systems. Just whatever you do, dont buy a computer with the name Sony attached to it.

As you can see, there are HP and Dell haters all over the place. However, after reading your post I think either company will be able to provide you with exactly what you need.

Remember, you will be paying a little bit more for a machine someone with the required knowledge could build themselves, but you are getting a machine that is dependable and customer/technical service that is top of the line. (There are people who will disagree... but I first bought from Dell almost 6 years and never had to spend more than 2 hours on the phone with them, and every problem I had was resolved within a business week. Also, a co-worker ruined his motherboard, out of warranty and HP, within 3 dayafter sending them his laptop, replaced the entire motherboard, free of charge - which included shipping...)

My suggestion would be to look at bothHP and Dell's website. Look at comparable computers from each company and I bet will find one that is perfect for you and your family.

A lot of times people actually buy too much and end up spending extra money for things they do not need. If you would like to go over a few possible selections or have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask us!

I have experience with both Dell and HP (Compaq). Both are good machines. I have both in my home and they are very dependable machines. When I recommend to someone what they should buy, I tell them to configure identical computers (as close as possible) and go with the best value. I also recommend that if someone is not computer savvy, they spend the extra for the additional warranty as cheap insurance should something go wrong after the first year since most PCs are only one year warranties and if something usually goes wrong its after day 366.

Hope this helps.
