I am building a PC. My plan so far is to go with...

AMD Athlon 64 x2 3800
Seagate Barracuda SATA 250GB HD
Antec Sonata II Case w/ 450w PSU
ABIT AN8 ATX AMD Mobo
Patriot Dual Channel (2x512MB), 184-Pin DDR SDRAM
Sapphire Radeon 9600 Atlantis Video Card

What kind of Cooling Fan/Heatsink should I put in? I am looking for something quiet and something that will fit well in my case.

And let me if you have any other suggestions/mods I should make to my plan here...

Thanks

I like the thermalright XP-120 and the Zalman Fatal1ty FS-C77, also, id get a better video card for that computer, atleast a X850 or 6800, if you plan on gaming that is....

Again, this is what I told another Athlon 64 User:
"I've got an Arctic Cooling fan/heatsink for my athlon 64 3700+.

It's got a blue LED fan, and its real quiet. Pretty much silent. I think on newegg its like 19 or so dollars, to me it was worth it. At the time I paid $23. It almost seems like too good of a deal, but I have windows power contorl set to "maximum battery" so it keeps the voltage as low as 1.1 Volts and runs at 1000 Mhz when browsing the web or idleing. It kicks up the voltage seamlessly when I do some other applications to 1.5V at 2.2Ghz, and everything in between since it only gives the CPU how much energy it needs. Anyways, so the fan only turns on when the CPU gets somewhat hotter. Right now my computer is idleing at 39*C, with one slow 80mm fan exhausting the air. I like that heatsink/fan, so you should consider taking a look at it."

So, bottom line is, I'd install that AMD CPU software you can download at their website, and you can change it in the "Power" when you right click on your desktop, go to properties, and go on the screen saver tab.

Keep in mind that you can have Variable CPU speed no matter which heatsink/fan route you go. So I think those are some good choices for you.

I'd have to say that with all the fatality line of crap.
Their 925XE motherboard with pretty decent albeit the superior ASUS board costed less, it's still unfair to consider that particular board crap IMO :)

I guess, but question: wouldnt just enabling the build in Cool N' Quiet functionality do the same thing? :)
