what costs are involved in setting up and running a simple website?

I have been corresponding with an incredible woman in Kenya who helps to run a voluntry organsation that helps to feed and educate orphans. They'd like to set up a simple website to spread the word of their work and create a platform through which donations can be made.
Can anyone tell me how much it costs to set up and run a simple website? If it's not too much I will look into covering the costs myself.
I'm much obliged for any help or guidance anyone can offer.
