What could i DO ?

Hey guys im new to the forum you people seem to know about computers so i want to know what i could do to make my computer faster and anything else to make it efficient. I have a HP Pavilion a1700n. I bought it from Best Buy a while back. Ive done nothing to it but put a decent sound card in it. I have Windows Vista that came on it. My Specs are :
3800 model
Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor
1024 MB of Mem.
250 gig hard drive
NVIDIA geforce 6150 grfx card

I know a little bit about computers but not as much as you guys i know, i know i can add like 4 gigs of RAM. to speed up, Im thinking of changing to like a 120 MM fan to push more air and i have no plans for anything else yet thats why im asking you guys for assistance. So I would like to hear some comments and ideas from you guys. Thanks!,Bradley
 
You can add 4GB as you said, but unless you upgrade to a 64bit OS, you're going to be limited to 3.25GB of RAM

Unless you're overheating (or you actually have room for a 120mm fan) there's really no need to add one.

I don't know what else you'd like to do... I mean you could add a faster CPU or a better GPU if you wanted. The GPU would probably be the cheapest alternative if you're at least trying to play games...
 
Well, first of all welcome to CF. Great to see new people.

Now, in order for us to properly assist you, and help you decide if another fan is necessary you could consider installing a program such as everest home edition in order to find out the temps of your computer components. Unless they are hotter than normal, putting a fan into your computer wouldn't do much good.

In order for you to know what type of RAM to buy, you should download CPU-Z which will tell you what type of memory your current system is using. This will be helpful when planning to buy your new memory by helping you avoid compatability issues with other memory.

I hope this clears some things up.
 
Well heres this looks like its DDR2 dual channel RAM i could use. So any certain product i could buy to help with my PC speed? Im using like 45% Memory usage just Idling alone.....
