What cpu and graphics card?

ive built half of my computer and im left to buy the cpu and graphics card, my motherboard is AM3 socket and i have 650w power supply.

So what would you recommend for graphics card and cpu ?

300-400 to spend but would prefer to spend less on something good and upto date so i can buy a keyboard and mouse

what are you using the computer for? The GPU and CPU recomendations will vary by use.

ok, gaming. What games do you play regularly?
Editing, assuming you mean visual (instead of written), you will need a pretty good GPU to handle that. I would suggest at least a HD5750/5770. CPU, a good quad core would be better than anything for you. I'm at school right now, and thus can not access newegg, but I will get back to you on what particular processor.

May be a bit of overkill on the CPU, but that will be a great setup. The 6950 is only 1 step down from the top of AMD's line (HD6970 is top, and you can unlock the 6950 with the 6970 bios and save some cash there.)

what do you mean by overkill on the cpu ?

thinking of getting a cheaper 2GB graphics card cant find one though.

iirc, the 1090T is a thubian hexcore. going off of that, it is overkill. Few programs (especially games) are multithreaded into the 6 range. You would be better of going with a quad core and using the saved money elsewhere, like for a good aftermarket cooler.

your selling yourself short. The quad core will be suffient and be able to power you into the future. The hexcore will be a good processor, but will be under utalized most of the time. Either way you go, they will be surpassed by bulldozer later this year.

I would not try to be future proof. It will never happen the way that games are advancing these days. Id shoot for around three years life out of this particular setup. at that time a simple GPU and CPU upgrade would probably bring you to the current then.

its 400 pounds was going to buy the 6870 but for like 30-40pound more i can get a 2GB Graphics card

Its still up to you. If your not planning on upgrading in the near future. Then probably the 1090 and a 6950, if you want to fork over a little more. If you plan on upgrading to Bulldozer later this year, I would just save some bucks and get a 955.

by the time other processors and graphics cards are released id probably have enough to buy them at the time.

will only buy 1 graphics card cause my psu is only 650w
