Hello gusy,

I bout a new PC, which is Windows ME, 28GB hard drive, 128Mb of ram and a very poor graphic card. It is 'new' because I bought it yesterday from carboot sale. Without that I already have on computer which is dell dimension 8400, Pentium 4 HT, 512 MB of ram, 142 GB hard drive.

I need to get the internet connection to my Windows ME computer. The problem is it has no USB at all. But my friend suggested that if you buy an internal USB and a router you could get internet connection. Is that true? What do I need to to get internet connection? What router should I buy?? How much does it costs ??(I need a wireless one). Someone please help me....

Thank you.

If you are going to use a router, you'll need to use ethernet so you'll need to make sure you have an ethernet port for each computer. Wireless routers range in price based on type (b/g/n) but a wireless G router from linksys will run you from $50 - $70. Your connections will go like:

(Internet) ------- (Router) -------- Computer /Wireless Connections

do u no how much a ethernet port wil costs? You are saying that I need two ethernet card to connect to the internet rite?

I need two ethernet card to connect to the internet rite?

Just to make is absolutely clear, you only need ONE ethernet card to get on the internet via a router. You need two because you said two computers, the rule is you would need N number of ethernet cards with N being the number of computers you have. PCI ethernet cards costs peanuts, they are like $AU10, if you think your local store is expensive you can always try eBay.

lol.i dont try ebay. By the way.........

So the conclusoin is I need two ethernet card because I have two PC.

And one of my PC has got internet connection. Does it affect the number of ethrnet card?

yeah that's it. You need a total of 3 ethernet connections... two for the computer that's hooked up to the internet, one for the 2nd computer

does the computer you have dell 8400 already have an rj-45 jack(ethernet)?
I'd think it would, and if thats the case you'd only need one PCI ethernet card for the ME edition one. but I could be wrong

You can actually network the two computers internet together with an ethernet
cable. Actually, that is how I'm getting my internet connection right now.
