What Do I Need to Make This Solid State Disk Work With My Motherboard?

2048Megabytes

I am looking at buying the following 64 gigabyte Solid State Disk because of its fast read speeds:

G.SKILL FM-25S2S-64GB 2.5" 64GB SATA II

I want to make this the master drive in my system. Here are some of my Gigabyte GA-M78SM-S2H motherboard specifications:

Will I be able to just hook this up to my motherboard using one of my Serial ATA ports or do I need other components to get this to work in my system?

Yes I know I would need to reinstall my operating system on the new drive.

So solid state drives can just be plugged in like normal hard drives?

Be ready to tweak the hell out of your OS after installing. Cheap SSD's right now have horrible write speed and sometimes lag due to shoddy jmicron controllers.

Yeah, I was reading the reviews of the solid state disks. I think I am going to wait until the technology is more refined in the future. Hopefully the Intel solid state disk that has read speeds of 250 megabytes per second comes down in price. I'm patient so I can wait.

You might as well put your money into a 10k RPM SATA 2 HDD. Cheap ones are Western Digital Raptors...they're not bad, I'm using it in my Linux server...and it's a lot faster tahn 7200rpm. For Windows, really I hear the VelociRaptor ones are the ones you'll see an improvement in.
