What do you do with your computer at night!?

depending on what computer it is ill hibernate my laptop and standby my desktop the rest go off

i usually set it to do some scanning (virus/malware) or a large download; let it make use of my downtime.

I just turn the screen off and leave it be if it's running a scan or running a big process etc... But if it's doing nothing, I either go to standby or hibernation.

Well for me it depends, I usually defrag my hdisks at night and leave it be, same when doing a full system scan for viruses. When nothing is to be done, for me its wise just to turn it off.

Yeah its just quicker than booting it up everytime realy,Especialy if your like me where you go on the pc for half hour then go out somewhere then go back on the pc later throughout the day.

I work nights, so when I get home at 6am I turn it on, play with it for a few hours then go to sleep and leave my comp on, screensaver comes on in 15min, and when i wake up around 4pm i play with it again for awhile then i turn it off when i leave for g/fs and work. So its only off really when im not home.

Although, when I wake up i restart because it seems to be slower after being on for 7 hours and not doing anything.

My last comp that i tried to put to sleep it froze. ive heard bad things from all sides, leaving it on, turning it off, putting it into sleep mode.

I have a quick question though. when it's in that mode, is it the same thing as it being turned off?

Anyways, I put it on hibernate cause standby uses energy for just a couple seconds of time spared on boot up.

i just leave all 5 computers on 24/7, it is schedule to do stuff while i'm away from it. stuff like defrag, virus scan, diskcleanup, etc.

This is the way I do also,everything is done by morning so my PC is ready and clean

lol . most of them do what I do. I think turning off is the best method for computers. it will get some rest and it wont over heat or expire so soon. rite?

The only time I turn off my computer is when I'm going away for extended periods of time (vacations, camp, etc). Also, sometimes if it crashes I'll leave it off for a little while.

I shut my computer off every night, seeing I'm not going to use it till like 6 the next night.
