what do you guys think of this build?

ok, this would probably be for gaming so here it goes:
cpu: q9450
mobo:ASUS Maximus II Formula
hdd: 3 samsung f1's 1tb drives in raid 5(might add in another 3 if price is right)
memory: 4gb of cellshock 1000mhz (4-4-4-12)
graphics: a pair of 4870's or a pair of 4870 x2's havent really decided
case: have(some sort of old server case)
psu: corsair 1000hx
optical: dont really know, looking for preferably an hd/bluray combo and a cd/dvd burner?
os: vista ultimate 64bit
what else do you think i could improve on this?
 
OS, get SP1
Ram / Memory get OCZ, it is better and is cheap at the moment!
Hard Drive get seagate hard drives,
otherwise it looks alright to me.
 
HDD: go for either western digital or seagate imho, but thats simply because my experience with samsung drives has been somewhat less than ideal
RAM: if you're spending the kind of money for that stuff already go for DDR3 1333Mhz stuff, the latency may be a little bit worse, but the read/write timing is better, and the latency is almost negligable anyway, unless you're trying to find the inverse square of every prime number in existance :p

COOLING! the most important thing I can stress is that for such a machine make it last, and future proof it with decent cooling, probably liquid cooling, then overclock it a bit. Not only will good cooling add to the life of everything in it, it will increase performance and stability.
 
I would definitely get some VGA coolers for those 4870's cuz they run HOT. O yah and the hd 4870's would be overkill, but you could run any game at super duper high.
 
you have to remember, im probably going to be running 6 hdd's and a pair of x2's and a dual loop, and whoever said ddr3, its a ddr2 board only :p
