What do you normally do with your printer nowadays?

I used to have a printer which I would print resumes off of (which I no longer need to do).

I'm planning on getting a new computer system and I now question the value of having a printer with the system. So I'm wondering what people regularly do with their printers which would help me decide whether or not to get one.

Thank you for your help.

I don't print much. Usually I print driving directions, papers, and rarely photos (on regular paper just to hang on my dorm room wall).

I'm actually responding to someone whose post didn't attach to my thread

I'll get a printer if I get a fantastic offer (which Dell did when I picked mine up for just a thin dime), otherwise I won't bother.

don't print pictures, just email or put on usb.
To expensive. 9 cents is reasonable.

Have a scanner and scan documents and in the file cabinet.
print flight and return and pin to wall.
thats it.

Too bad you can't put this one on the LOL thread.

What do you mean by put it on usb?

Go somewhere and take pictures with camera. come back and load
pictures on the microdrive usb. go print them. I email mostly.
check on line when living in the states. check prices at walmart, walgreen or where
ever. best price i upload then print. pick up 4 hrs later or next day. sometime its about 7 cents a picture. thats cheap. i will never print myself. ink is expensive. dont do it.
just print documents or some email or a pdf on how like from here and put in a 3 ring binder.

if im printing pictures i will take the card out of the camera and go print.
not always though. microdrive in my pocket is for say family pictures and utilties.
visiting for working on another computer in the neighborhood. or family.

i print maps mostly; don't hava gps, lol

also, sometimes there's the odd thing i gotta print, like tickets to a game i buy online, or the receipt to go pick up my order of hot wings that i placed online, or my class schedule.

just kind of nice having a printer around.

Dngrswife has a dedicated photo printer for those times when she needs physical photos (my mother, for instance, does not do computers);

I have a multifunction laser attached to the home network for copying, scanning pictures, etc.

Our printer usage is intermittent-- we may go a month without printing anything, but then the next month I am running out of paper and toner.
The laser doesn't do card-stock, unfortunately, so we may end up getting a cheap inkjet just for that...
