Like the name says... and by xmas i WILL have a new video card so.. recommend anything you think would need to be upgraded... nothing to fancy like a super computer part

Just so you know you aren't going to be able to run a 4870 in that PC without getting some serious bottlenecking issues.

Basically, you won't the full potential of the graphics card because you have 2GB of RAM (as opposed to 4), dual core processor (although I'm not sure that matters), etc.

OK so if i go with the... HD4850.. will that bottleneck it

Most likely, yes. Your current configuration consists of fairly old parts.

Basically, you won't the full potential of the graphics card because you have 2GB of RAM (as opposed to 4), dual core processor (although I'm not sure that matters), etc.

It's the speed of the RAM that is really going to be an issue. And the speed of the CPU.

To be honest if you're looking to use the PC for gaming, you aren't going to get far. And there isn't any reason to put much money into it. I would save up some money for all new parts, to make a new build.

whats so wrong with the one i have now?

There's nothing wrong with it, I'm just saying putting a lot of money into an older system such as that one doesn't make much sense. It's not going to get you far in terms of gaming. The CPU, motherboard, and RAM are all pretty old. And I'm saying that your best option would be to save money for newer parts, that is if you are looking for a decent gaming rig.

If you want to be able to play games alittle better. Save your money and get something like a 9600GT/GSO. Would be alot better than your onboard is.

I want to go with either HD4850 or eVGA 9800 GT But apparently its gunna bottleneck my comp cuz its old... and i just got it like 3-4 months ago

Never heard of the brand P/S you have. Chances are a 4850 would drain it pretty bad. If it really has the watts it claims and depending on the amps. you could probable pull off a 9800GT. It might bottle neck it alittle bit, but the card would be worth moving on to the next computer when you upgrade. The problem with your board it has a 95W processor limit, so it limits your processor upgrade.
