p4 631 3.0ghz prescott to
intel core2duo allendale e4500 2.2ghz(plan to oc to 3.0ghz) 129.99
asus p5n deluxe sli mobo to GIGABYTE GA-P31-DS3L P31 775 motherboard $66.00
aftermarket cooler its a giant heavy mobo breaking copper heatsink with fans i put on it..it works but i cant stand my computer up because of the weight i leave it laying on its side. keeps my prescott to around 32idle and 45c load but prescotts get hott oh well it was free
PSU LOGISYS|PS550ABK 550W RT 19.99 should have spent more here but its only 20 if it sucks
1gb ddr 2 667 cheapo ram like 19.99 ill prob messed up here and should have gone with better ram but ill see
nvidia 7900gs oc to 650/1400 had it already
250gb ide 7200rpm hd brand?? already had it
dvdr/cdr burner

i spent a total of 275 with shipping for the mobo, ram, cpu, powersupply, and a wireless mouse and keyboard from newegg. will i be able to play crysis and world of conflict with this setup.. how much difference will the dual core cpu do over my 3.0ghz prescott assuming they are both running 3.0ghz in games like crysis and world of conflict which i can run now but it takes forever to load.

The psu is crap

Crysis is going to suck on this system. It isnt just about this CPU that makes a system able to play the lastest games. You will need more than a 7000 series nVidia GPU, you will need a better CPU than 2.0Ghz, more RAM than 1gig of DDR ( not 2) 667, a stronger NB on your motherboard, as well as an adequate PSU for all your nice components.

Budget systems for $300 dont play cyrsis.

im not trying to play on the highest settings or anything but i can play the game now it just takes awhile to load so i know i can play it just need to cut the load times.. and ill prob upgrade to a 8800gt soon anyway.. and i have ddr 2 667 i forgot the 2 its not original ddr..thanks for your input

If you overclock the 2.2 CPU and get a 8800GT you should be fine. Getting a better PSU should be your first concern though.

any suggestions i read a power supply faq that helps you choose based on the 12v amp line and others and it recomends this psu as a good budget psu..i know its not 550w prob more like 400 but its temporary.. i had 2 7900gs in sli on my mobo but the cpu just bottlenecked it so i sold it but the mobo i have now isnt an sli setup.. would a 8600gts be any better than what i have now or should i just spend the extra 100 and get a 8800 series? i understand what im buying and more or less just got it to put the system together because the one i have is way to weak..

Youre better off with a 8800GT 512mb, they pack allot of punch for the price. You can play crysis with it. If you want to save some money, look into a HD3850 from ATI, theyre not bad. Antec, OCZ, and PC Power & Cooling make good PSUs. You also should consider one of the new C2D 45nm CPUs, a lower E8000 series would be good for you.

appriciate it i actually just got the cpu last week so ill stick with it for awhile and try my current setup before heading to comp usa and trying to get a psu at like 50% off..

just put together my setup and im running at 3.0ghz no prob and i scored 5500 in 3dmark06 cpu score was 2504 im happy with my setup and can now load crysis at an acceptable rate and it doesnt glitch or anything.. ill prob upgrade my graphics card in the next month or so but the processor is about 3 times faster loading games.. and my cheapo ram is being run at 900mhz without a problem ddr 2 667..

it could but its such a big jump im happy i got to 3.3 without changing the voltage but just bumped it down to 3.0. im more suprised by my 19.99 1gb of ram is overclocking to 900mhz from 667
