what do you think the numbers of AMD stand for?

so, actually noone knows exacly where the numbers stand for?
i saiu dit before and i'll say it again, its a performance measure. i.e. a measure of the performance of the chip :)

AMD came out and stated those numbers where for comparing their processors to Intel's. So regardless of what you "think", AMD has already stated what it "is."

I posted a quote and a link proving this. So unless you people know something AMD doesn't, then that's what those numbers are for.

Also, Scott Mueller also says those numbers are used for that purpose. So is he wrong too? He's only the worlds top rated computer expert...

so a amd athlon 3200 compares to a pantium 4 3.2 ghz the same as a amd 64 3200? mabey u should check the dates on those quotes

Those quotes are in their official FAQ. It's not like they have old an new versions of their FAQ. Did you even go to that reference? Apparently the answer to that is no.

yes.. but a 3000+ xp is about the same temp as a 3000+ venice isnt it?
Only if you divide by two.

The numbers were put in place because people believe the core speed has everything to do with actual speed.
You mean net speed :P

AMD knew this, and made a decision to place these numbers on their processors.
Heehee so what does the Intel number scheme mean? :P

Why do they have to stand for something?
