Well, it's a workstation video card. Their drivers are much more stable and they are better for encoding videos and pictures. I suppose if you're running a big business encoding HD video and pictures, $3k is a small price to pay.

It will play games but not graphically intense games. It would run games like Half Life and Warcraft 3. Thus making it not an outrageous build.

My Crossfired 1GB 4870's would kick that thing in the hind end in games. It only has 240 stream processors, compared to my 1600.... Its not designed for games, as others have said its for workstation rendering type stuff.

i think i used it in an outrageous computer contest, put two of these in sli, along with a quad socket board(with 4 shanghai quads and 128gb of ram) it would probably be the fastest rendering machine you have ever used
