What does this do and is it necessary to include in my computer?
If it isn't necessary I won't include it in my computer because I need some more room for my VGA cooler on my micro atx mobo. Here is some pics of the thing, and I am guessing it has something to do with the connection of the internet through a phone cord.

If you use dial-up to access the internet, then yes you need it. If you have cable or DSL then no, you wont need it.

THat would be a modem. Its for dial up, if you have dial up, then you need it, if not, then no, its not neccesarry.

Just to confirm, they are correct. It is a Dial up PCI modem.

yup, a ethernet card, 4 DSL or highspeed internet, is alot bigger, and theres only 1 port, it's called a RJ-45, that card is a RJ-11.
