Hey guys I have started the process of getting rid of awful vista, and i have everything but my drivers backed up. simply because i cant remember what drivers you need. could someone please tell me what drivers I will need when reformating and switching OS.

I have my GPU driver but thats all i have so far

What OS are you switching to?

Vista drivers will not work with XP.

Hopefully you're upgrading to Windows 7?

If so, Windows 7 will find everything you need for you.

BUT, normally I would back up my motherboard drivers, GPU drivers, Audio drivers, and Ethernet drivers.

I'm Putting XP pro on it, and im aware of that I downloaded the XP driver for the GPU i just need to know what else to get

Ok, so you will need:

  1. Motherboard Chipset drivers
  2. Motherboard/Sound Card Audio drivers
  3. Motherboard Ethernet drivers

What brand and model of computer do you have? That way we can better help you to try to install XP.

why are you downgrading, Windows 7 is so much bag freeer than vista, you are most likely to benefit of geting Windows 7, plus its at discounted price right now!

But if not, did you build your computer or bought one whole,
in any case going to manufactures website for every hardware you have on, might be a good thing to do, For windows 7 you do not need to do anything as it downloads it for you!!!,

If it's another version of Windows, the OS will do it automatically as you boot up, but if not, there are various websites that will check your system for the appropriate drivers.
