what dvd burner?

I was looking at buying a cd/dvd burner or just a dvd burner which ever has the best dvd burner for the money. My budget is 60 dollars max i was just wondering which i should get, it will just be used for burning movies. Any suggestions?
 
I have an NEC and a Lite-On, and the NEC has been MUCH more reliable. I beleive many others here also have NEC's and would agree they are some of the best around.
 
The Sony DRU530A has a longer casing then the newer models but works like a charm. The two Sony cd-r/rw drives(CRX220 as long as the dvd burner-CRX225 with shorter casing Both 52x24x52) have also proved to be reliable. The newer Sony DRU810 is one to look at as well as NEC. These are all standard 5 1/4" sized drives.
 
Search around sites like newegg, tigerdirect, outpost, froogle, etc..

They are fairly cheap now.. there really isn't one BEST one because they all pretty have the same technology and do pretty much the same thing.. but name brands that you can look more into are like said.. NEC, LITE ON, SONY, MEMOREX, etc.. it just depends on your liking..

its usually the higher the speeds, the better.. but you have to look into the background of the manufacturer and do some reviews to see if it had any worldwide issues, or problematic issues...
 
Another thing that will play into running any one brand burner is the blank media you get for it. Often the complaint is heard about troubles burning disks until someone swaps the brand and speed blanks they are using.

...and there are some unlucky souls like me who've had the exact opposite experience! :confused: My LiteOn seems to be able to burn anything, and my NEC died after six months! Luck of the draw, it seems.

I am with Oven Master on that one. I have an external and an internal "Lite On" and have no problems with either. Of course my Pioneer 109 and HP Lightscribe haven't given me any problems either. So I think that most major brands should do you well. Check out newegg, zipzoomfly and Tiger Direct (though, don't count on Tiger Direct for rebates). I have seen major brands in the $35 range lately.
