What exactly does this mean?

I ran a system requirement test for Oblivion 4, and it said this:

CPU Speed
Recommended: 3 GHz
You Have: 1.8 GHz Performance Rated at 3.0 GHz
PASS

I have an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Processor, and it is not dual. Anyone know?

Haha, sweet. Take THAT intel!
It's nothing to do with AMD 'beating' Intel. It's just the different architechture of the chip that gives a different rating of clock speed.

wait for Conroe, wont be looking quite as rosy for intel price wise then....might be the first time i move away from AMD

(if you want to know about conroe then search the boards for it)

amd will counter act just as easy anyway look intel is worcking incredfibally hard to develop a cpu that will beat amd amd doesnt care becaue quad core is comming anyway in a year so its not wrth trying and besides amd knows they are beter than intel

The reason a e.g. AMD Athlon 64 3000+ running at 1.8GHz is rated as 3GHz is because the architecture of the CPU allows it to do more operations during a cycle. So basically Intel's do more cycles while AMD's do more operations during a cycle.

Beating them at prices then, how about that?
Amd dont beat intel outright in a price war.

amd will counter act just as easy anyway
well looking far into there pipeline i dont see anything, care to know why....because there isn't anything, the quad core you mention is not ground breaking you can't justs keep throwing on extra cores are hope for the best the overheads get too high and at this point we are too close to deminishing returns.

look intel is worcking incredfibally hard to develop a cpu that will beat amd
They already have stacks of models that will do that. They are doing what they do best, moving there architecture onwards due to market forces that extend beyond AMD. Trust me the board room of intel headquaters does not buzz with the letters AMD, sure they discuss it buts its a small part of the overall picture

amd doesnt care becaue quad core is comming anyway
Trust me they care, AMD watch intel a lot more than intel watch AMD.
Also you say this as though AMD have a exculsive rights to make quad cores. Going along with your idea, the intel core micro architecture will scale to quad core as well, and will probably trounce the k8+ quad core as it stands

amd knows they are beter than intel
How do you get there, sure they held the crown in gaming for a while, and there dual core entry chips beat intels out of most tasks (albiet for a lot more cash). With new architectures coming out from the intel camp that fairtale could well be over (at least until amd pipes drop out something nice).
Amd is tiny compared to intel,
There chips are about to loose there gaming appeal,
The dual core entry level of intel is pushing them off the selve faster than AMDs (mainly due to cost).
Intel own the mobile world (which is where real future growth lies)
65mn and future 45nm waffers will are used/will be used before AMD allowing them to maintain margins at lower prices (mainly passed on to wholesale manufacturers)

I'm not saying intel are the best or visa versa, but i am saying that this fonboy horse crap is a quick way to get the wrong reputation

Good job.
