Im upgrading my pc. And iv done the whole search and comparison thing. And i have 2 CPU options left. They are exacly the same price but that doesnt make sence to me because 1 is quad core and the other is duo deul core! My options are "Intel® Tray Core2™Duo E6850 Processor - 3.0GHz Dual Core, Socket 775, 4MB, 1333MHz FSB, 65nm" or the "Intel® Tray Core2™Quad Q6600 Processor - 2.40GHz Dual Core, Socket 775, 8MB, 1066MHz FSB, 65nm, 64-Bit Ready".

Now what everyone has told me is that deul = 2 cores and quad = 4. But then the 4 x 2.4GHz is the same price as the 2 x 3.0GHz.

It might be that the 1333MHz and 1066MHz is the big difference. I just dont konw!! so any suggestions on which one whould be the better buy whold be apreciated! thnx

any singular program will run faster on the 3.0

but you'll have better multitasking with the 2.4

you don't add the cores together, they can't distribute workload to each of the cores on their own
