I am upgrading from a mac book pro 15 inch so I want a decent comp for gaming and direct 10 graphics to be able to run on it good.

Skip the laptop. I'd probably go with the cheaper computer and invest the extra $200 to $250 for another 2 GB of RAM and a decent video card.
